An In Vitro Alternative to the Draize Test

Kwan Y. Chan, PhD, assistant professor of ophthalmology at the University of Washington School of Medicine, Seattle, also is working with cultured rabbit corneal cells. He is investigating the possibility that the cells' production of plasminogen activator, a biological molecule associated with eye injury, will be an accurate indicator of eye irritation.
