Johns Hopkins School of Public Health, Baltimore, Maryland

Philip H. Sannes, PhD, assistant professor of environmental health sciences at the Hopkins School of Hygiene and Public Health, has been able to culture cells to reproduce, in vitro, the architecture of the skin. He will use this culture to measure the effects of toxins on the skin's ability to absorb nontoxic chemicals. Such measurements may be used as alternative toxicity tests.
