A Model System for Rapid In Vitro Toxicity Testing Using Endo-Epithelial Cells and Millipore CM Membranes

Robert E. Van Buskirk, PhD and James Dix, PhD
The State University of New York at Binghamton, Binghamton, New York

They are developing an in vitro test for cytotoxicity by measuring changes in mitochondrial function in canine epithelial and endothelial cell lines. Buskirk and Dix grow cells on Millipore Millicell CM membrane and will evaluate the level of mitochondrial dysfunction with fluorescent techniques. They also will compare their results to results of other cytotoxicity tests.
