Phylogenetically Conserved Developmental Endpoints: Their Use in the Brine Shrimp Teratology Screen

Randolph B. Sleet, PhD
Research Triangle Institute, Research Triangle Park, North Carolina

He is expanding testing capacity of an in vitro screen for teratogens using brine shrimp. Sleet will determine if a brine shrimp's response to chemicals is representative of development responses in higher organisms. He is looking at both molecular and morphological events associated with development using known teratogens and non-specific chemicals to determine sensitivity at various developmental stages.
