Inflammatory Cells and Target Organ Toxicity

Michael A. Trush, PhD
Johns Hopkins School of Public Health, Baltimore, Maryland

Trush will investigate interactions between target organ cells (in this case hepatocytes) and inflammatory cells. Trush intends to develop an in vitro way to demonstrate that chemically altered hepatocytes produce factors that stimulate release of chemicals (oxidants) from inflammatory cells, which further damage cells.
