Development of a QSAR Database for Skin Contact Allergens

Howard I. Maibach, MD
University of California, San Francisco, California

Dr. Maibach is developing a QSAR computer database for skin contact allergens. It will consolidate extensive data from thousands of human and animal experiments which have been performed and reported. The researchers will develop and test a method to systematically examine the system's potential to increase prognostication and decrease animal testing. The database will permit QSAR determination to identify possible sensitization potential for compounds not yet studied in animals or man.
