The Center for Alternatives to Animal Testing is an academic center affiliated with the Division of Toxicological Sciences in the Department of Environmental Health Sciences of the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health.
The 11th of March 2009 was a D-day for the cosmetic industry world-wide: Europe – one of the most important markets and producers of cosmetics – banned animal testing and enforced it with a marketing ban. The Center for Alternatives to Animal Testing (CAAT), 28 years after its creation by the cosmetic industry, is a key hub for information about alternative methods and their use for regulatory requirements. We know from our sponsor companies that enormous information deficits exist. We are therefore offering an information day where you can discuss the current situation and opportunities with colleagues, from both Europe and the U.S.
Speakers will include:
We also expect colleagues from the FDA to join us.
The discussion will focus on your individual questions. The exact program and location will be communicated after July 1, when we can estimate the number of participants. It is likely to take place in the Bloomberg School of Public Health (615 N. Wolfe St, Baltimore, MD, 21205). We ask you to organize your travel independently. The meeting will start at 10am and end at 4pm.
Fees: free for CAAT sponsors and associates, as well as for federal agencies; $800 for others (after 1 July: $200 for sponsors, etc., and $1200 for others). Registration required.
